We celebrated Thanksgiving with our 2nd grade buddies today!  We read stories about the first Thanksgiving, and learned that the Pilgrims and Indians had a feast to celebrate their friendship.  We met in our room, watched A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING, then had our own feast. We made butter and corn bread muffins; our buddies cooked cranberries.  It was super yummy!

We had SO MUCH FUN at the Hartje Center today with Mr. Williams!  He told the kids to be "nature detectives" and they spotted all kinds of interesting things....deer tracks, milkweed pods, pine cones, acorns, mushrooms, and moss.  We even found a stick house, rumored to belong to the first little pig!
Another highlight?  Jumping in leaves!

Last week, we had an author celebration!  We have been busy writing "personal narratives",  and on Friday we shared the "big idea" of our story.  During our writing mini-lessons, we have been learning how to include characters, setting, details, and feelings in our book.  We've also been practicing putting spaces between our words and ending sentences with a period.  I'm soooo proud of our writers!!

During our math lessons, we've been learning about MORE and FEWER.  Today we played a game to reinforce these concepts, and to help us answer the question "How do you know?"

We've also been learning about BATS!  We've been making pages for our own nonfiction story, and today we added one that says "Bats use echolocation."

Here's a link to a great song we've been singing at school (warning...this will stick in your head :).
