Here are some pictures from reading centers today.  We are practicing reading and writing color words, naming letters and sounds, and reading our new sight words.

Did your family see the lunar eclipse Sunday night?  We had SO much fun talking about it in class on Monday!  We read some nonfiction stories about the moon, made moons (with CRATERS!) out of paper and glue, drew astronauts, and ate an astronaut snack.

Can your child sing the alphabet song backwards??  We practiced today using our mini book (while sitting like a boss :)  Try it out at home!!

We also had a GREAT apple party. Thanks for sending in yummy apple treats :)

Here are some pictures of our reading centers.  Each day the children work with their "learning buddies" to practice a reading skill...this week we are reading and writing our friends' names.  We used play-doh, letter stamps, crayons, and the ipad app "Doodle Buddy".

You can also ask your child about this silly activity! :)

During  math time, we are learning about "same" and "different",  and sorting objects based on color, shape, and size.  We begin with a short whole-group MINI LESSON,  followed by a partner game to practice what we learned.

Check out our kinder- gardeners! (ha!)

We visited the Pineview garden (behind our school) and picked tomatoes, cukes, and carrots.  The veggies were planted last year, and given TLC by the "Garden School" students this summer.  Yummers!
